So to sum up : Fun game, racing everywhere and everything, mid-2008 Source : Codemasters News has shook the gaming world last night announcing that videogame giants Activision (Call of Duty, Tony Hawk, Guitar Hero) and Blizzard (World of Warcraft, Starcraft) are likely to merge into 1 company. This is the result of the French media giant Vivendi which already owns Blizzard wanting to take over Activision. The merged business will be called Activision Blizzard and the current CEO of Activision Bobby Kotick will become CEO of Activion Blizzard. According to Vivendi CEO Jean-Bernard Levy the gaming industry will become the core business for Vivendi, which also owns record company Universal and television and movie studio Canal+. This merger will create a company generating a revenue of $3.8 billion this year, more than the current market leader Electronic Arts which has a revenue of only $3.2 billion, which can be seen as a major shift of power in the gaming industry. Vivendi has offered $27.50 per Activision share, 24% more than the $22.15 at which it closed last friday, the deal is planned to close somewhere in the first half of 2008. Source: Fileplanet With Prostreet not far off now, EA Games will allow gamers a taste of what they will be paying for. A hefty 800mb download for just 2 cars and 2 tracks could only mean two things:
Stepping in, the game is a far cry from Need For Speeds of old, the easy going driving has been buckled down into a serious no-nonsense racer. Even if you do try to tune up the 'unrealism', you wont find much in the way of arcade physics. Damage is pretty fun to watch. You can actually total your car and fail the race altogether. But if you dont get that far, you can watch your car bend, lose parts and still move! Update : The two cars you get in the demo are probably amongst the most coveted. The new E92 BMW M3 and the Nissan GTR. The races they are found in are Speedtrap (I know its not called that, but the concept is exactly the same) and Circuit respectively.
November 14th. Mark your calanders, this is going to be fast... Get the demo here (FileFront)
